A tragic train crash in the Mexican state of Oaxaca has resulted in the deaths of at least 13 people, an incident sure to fuel opposition criticisms regarding the rapidity and handling of the country's flagship infrastructure initiatives.
The disaster happened on the trans-isthmus railway, a line constructed to connect the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean across the slenderest section of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. “We shall thoroughly investigate what caused this tragedy,” declared the country's president.
The official announced that, of the around 250 individuals on board, another 98 were wounded, with five of those in serious condition. The official stated plans to go to Oaxaca to confer with those affected.
