Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that having everyone at one table would be impossible.

This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the team enter locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in quest for Casimir.

Future Episodes

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.

Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
